Blog Journal 7
There isn’t much to say about Twitter. I don’t understand
fully how the site can be used for educational purposes. Nor do I understand
the expectations within this course about Twitter. I have retweeted and liked
several educational posts, but there isn’t much they can teach you because of
the limited character count. What pertinent information can you get from 120
characters? Twitter is a tough sell for me on its educational potential.
From our Web Page Design assignment, I furthered my
knowledge on the designing of websites through the program Weebly. I learned how
to create visually appealing, but also utile websites. My site can be found at http://fossicksclass.weebly.com/.
I enjoyed designing the website with imagery and color matching. I didn’t enjoy
the text. There seemed to be limited options when it came to be personalizing
the text as it pertains to font, color, etc. In the future, I may work
collaboratively with someone who can tell me their thoughts on the color
scheme, visibility, etc.
From using Diigo, I learned about social bookmarking. Never
have I utilized a site such as this. I learned through these activities, how to
bookmark, tag, and annotate websites so that others can work collaboratively
with me or see what I deem as important information on the site (e.g. if I was
a teacher trying to show my students what they need to focus on). As a teacher,
I can use Diigo or similar sites to show students (or even parents) information
that they should know. Conversely, students can use the site to work together
to sift through articles for important points.
