I don’t believe that social media like Twitter would be
conducive for a classroom. The potentiality for distractions on these sites exceeds
the benefit given. Wikis are a better tool as they can be used like a group
presentation may be. The podcast specifically mentions the “collaborative
writing” potential of wikis and I believe that this can teach students how to
work in a group environment such as they might within their careers.
The site SoundCloud is most synonymous with the up and
coming musical artists, but also contains a myriad of podcasts. Some students
are auditory learners and will exceed when they are presented with the material
through podcasts. SoundCloud has an easy to manage format and students can
explore many subjects from history to mathematics. When students are stressed
or need some entertainment, they can always tune into some music, as well.
I believe the future of robotics will be the most
influential in the coming years. The potential uses range from anatomy to
psychology, from mathematics to physics. Robotics can be used to practice
coding or teach students engineering and ingenuity. Robotics also hold the
potential to be teaching assistant with cognitive functions set to one subject.
They can be programmed to master a subject and ease the job of the teacher (or
even take the job of the teacher).
